Embrace Different™ + Speech Therapy App

Designing Inclusive Experiences → Preparing for Adoption → Enabling Growth

This project was initiated as a Digital Product & Learning Designer (UI/UX + LXD)—focused on creating awareness, support, and learning experiences around facial differences and speech development.

However, the problem space demanded more than design.

It required:

  • Behavior change
  • Emotional connection
  • Long-term engagement
  • Community-driven adoption

This naturally evolved the work into the responsibilities of a
Product Experience & Adoption Strategist

The Problem

People with facial differences and speech challenges face more than medical issues—they face:

  • Lack of accessible, structured learning support
  • Social stigma and low confidence
  • Fragmented resources across hospitals, therapists, and communities
  • No unified platform for learning, therapy, and emotional support

Most existing solutions are:

  • Clinically focused (not human-centered)
  • Content-heavy (not experience-driven)
  • Hard to sustain engagement over time

In digital learning systems, engagement often drops when experiences are not meaningful or continuous

The Opportunity

Build not just a product—but a safe, empowering experience ecosystem

Two connected solutions:

1. Embrace Different™ Platform
  • Awareness + education + community
  • Story-driven emotional connection
2. Speech Therapy App
  • Guided learning + practice + progress tracking
  • Daily habit-based improvement
The Solution
  • UX (User Experience) → Simple, inclusive, accessible design
  • LXD (Learning Experience Design) → Structured therapy & learning journeys
  • Emotional Design → Confidence-building, stigma reduction
  • Future Adoption Layer → Built-in pathways for onboarding, engagement, and retention
The Process

What I Did

  • Defined key personas: patients, parents, caregivers
  • Designed end-to-end journey (Awareness → Learning → Confidence → Progress)
  • Created accessible UI for diverse users (age, ability, emotional sensitivity)
  • Built a scalable product structure for future features

Strategic Shift

Designed not just screens—but a system ready for adoption and scale

What I Did

  • Designed guided therapy journeys (step-by-step progression)
  • Integrated practice-based learning (not passive content)
  • Embedded emotional reassurance and motivation loops
  • Created safe storytelling layer (Embrace Different™)

Research shows that experiential and reflective learning significantly improves confidence and engagement in career development

Experience Principle

People don’t return to apps—they return to how it makes them feel and progress

Activation (First Value Moment)

  • Guided onboarding based on user type (child/parent/adult)
  • First therapy success within minutes
  • Emotional reassurance from the start

Engagement (Continuous Use)

  • Daily therapy tasks (micro-learning loops)
  • Progress indicators (visible improvement)
  • Notifications with purpose (not spam)

Retention (Habit Formation)

  • Streak-based practice system
  • Milestones & achievement triggers
  • Personalized therapy journeys

Strategist Proof

Designed adoption as a system—not an afterthought

User Growth

  • Partner with hospitals, speech therapists, NGOs
  • Community-led onboarding via Embrace Different™

Product Growth

  • AI-assisted speech feedback
  • Personalized therapy plans (future phase)
  • Multi-language accessibility

Network Effects

  • Parent communities
  • Shared success stories
  • Peer motivation loops

Monetization (Future)

  • Institutional partnerships
  • Freemium therapy modules
⚠️ Current Stage Reality

This project is currently at:

→ ✅ Design + Experience Stage Completed
→ ⏳ Adoption & Growth Stage (Next Phase)

This is critical—and instead of hiding it, we position it as:

Strategic readiness for adoption and growth execution
Impact & Evidence of Success
Product Experience
  • Built a human-centered, inclusive product system
  • Shifted from clinical tool → emotional + learning experience
Adoption Readiness
  • Clear onboarding, engagement, and retention strategy defined
  • Designed for behavior change, not just usability
Growth Readiness
  • Scalable foundation for partnerships and expansion
  • Positioned for community-driven growth
My Role Evolution (Evidence of Strategist Level)
Executed As
  • UI/UX Designer
  • Learning Experience Designer
  • End-to-End Product Builder
Operated As
  • Product Experience Designer
  • Behavior & Learning Strategist
Thinking As
  • Product Experience & Adoption Strategist
  • Growth-Oriented Product Thinker
Future Direction

The next phase is focused on:

  • Measuring adoption metrics (Activation, Retention, Engagement)
  • Iterating based on behavioral insights
  • Expanding into a full ecosystem (product + community + care network)

Key Takeaway

Emotion-centered, habit-driven experience design—built for adoption from the start and strengthened by community—bridges products to real impact, trust, and sustainable growth.

This project demonstrates my ability to evolve from a Digital Product & Learning Designer into a Product Experience & Adoption Strategist—designing not just interfaces but systems ready to drive adoption, behavior change, and long-term growth.

Accessibility Enhancements

The key changes made to improve accessibility:

  1. Add aria-label to buttons: add descriptive aria-label attributes to icon-only buttons to clarify their function for screen reader users.
  2. Improve form accessibility:  Ensure all form inputs have associated labels for better context.
  3. Enhance semantic HTML: Review the HTML structure to ensure semantic elements are used correctly, which helps assistive technologies understand the page layout.
  4. Add titles to iframes:  Find any iframes, and I’ll add a descriptive title title attribute.
  5. Improve Link Descriptions: I will make link descriptions more meaningful where possible.
